A Belgian beer thread created at @adamhovey 's suggestion. Discussion of other great craft beers welcome. Bonus points if said beers are brewed by monks.
This beer is supposed to be one of the best in the world, made by monks.
It’s quadrupel though, which means the alcohol content will only allow me to have one, if I ever get a chance.
Speaking of rare spirits…has anyone ever tried any Pappy Van Winkle. I know of a bar where I think I could get a finger of it for $50…if they have any.
I don’t drink alcohol now, but when I did I enjoyed Chimay. But it is so expensive! I feel like maybe the monks of Scourmont should name the new addition to their abbey after me!
I know that some abbeys, like the Norbertine Our Lady of Leffe Abbey, now contract with major beer makers like InBev to produce their ales, but part of the proceeds still go to support the abbey.
