A collective “Papa, Maman et moi” (Dad, Mummy and me) has been founded in september 2004 in order to oppose the right of adoption to children. You may read their manifest over here, but the English is somewhat questionable users.belgacom.net/pmmvmi/doc/CommGB.pdf
The site is users.belgacom.net/pmmvmi
They are organizing a demonstration on the 17th of September to protest a bill that was approved by a Select Committee of the Belgian Senate, and which purported to give the right of adoption to homosexuals.
This summer, Belgian secular medias reported that one of the organizers of “Papa, Maman et moi” had some far right sympathies.
As a consequence, a splinter group (action familles - family actions) organized a separate demonstration taking place on the 10th of September. It ought to be precised that the Belgian church did not raise a finger against the act introducing homosexual marriage, under the leadership of Cardinal Danneels. You can visit the site here: actiegezin-actionfamille.be/FR/index.asp
Now that there is talk of adoption, the Belgian church woke up. Mgr. Léonard of Namur - one of the few Belgians who dares to speak out now and then - has supported “Papa, Maman et moi”, as also the former nuntius in Belgium, Mgr. Rauber.
Other parts of the French-speaking Catholic church are (now) supporting the splinter group. The Flemish are completely silent on the subject.
What do you think about this story? Would it not be better to have a united front against adoption by homosexuals, rather than two separate demonstrations that will halve the effect that one single mass demonstration could have on politicians?
Tell me what you think.
