I am helping construct a site for some large, outdoor Masses.

The handbells used inside the church at the Consecration are not sufficiently loud enough for this open air setting.

Does anyone know what type of bells are used during the consecration at a place like the Shrine of Divine Mercy at StockBridge Massachusetts? They have a huge outdoor Mass there on Divine Mercy Sunday, but I have never attended.

I don’t know, likely that have a carillon or something. But you can easily use a school bell for an outdoor mass. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

They have a bell tower so that sounds like a carillon. It is HUGE (350 acres). I was just there last Thursday and since we were doing the whole Naumkeag, Norman Rockwell Museum, AND the Shrine (all in Stockbridge) we barely scratched the surface of all the places to go at the Shrine (We did the outdoor stations, confession, and a peek at the Oratory).

Sounds very rewarding! I’ll have to put it on my list if I ever go north again! Thanks.
