I once remember reading something about a man bequeathing his skull to the Royal Shakespeare Company to be used as a prop in Hamlet. I’m just curious - what would the Church’s stance on disposing of one’s remains in that way be? I presume it wouldn’t be permissible, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

We are to treat the body with respect whether the soul is in it or not.

It is morally acceptable to donate a body to science, with the provision that, once they’re done with it, it be interred properly. It is also morally acceptable to be an organ donor even though that does separate parts of the body temporarily.

That being said, this serves no real purpose of benefit to anyone. I can’t say that I know it would be wrong, but I can’t really see how it would be okay.
