I had posted this in another section, but decided it was better suited for this section. Sorry if this is a problem.

I’m somewhat confused about this movie. Based on the information at the St. Ignatius web site, it seems that this movie was produced in 1987 (see fourth paragraph here.) I’m confused why this movie is just now, apparently, being released here in the U.S. I bought tickets to attend this premier with my family and I hope it is close to the quality of the 1940s Song of Bernadette. I’d appreciate an clarification, though I’m sure my confusion will be cleared up when I am at the gala premier and listen to Father Fessio speak.

If any other forum members plan on going, please let me know and I’d like to meet some of you in person!

I don’t like the way the pop-up dialog boxes handle my pastes of URLs…that’s my excuse for the above links not working, anyways…

Here they are again. Link 1 and Link 2

Wow! I wish this were happening in Texas.

I don’t know why it was not released sooner. It sounds like from your link that it is just a special engagement. It has been on video for years. Our family has a copy, and our girls would love to see the actress in person.

According to this additional web page from December 2004, the movie has only been recently released here in the U.S. Did you buy your copy at Lourdes, France? I’ve had The Song of Bernadette for some time, but have never seen this movie mentioned before. Apparently this movie is played at the shrine in Lourdes.

We bought it at our local Catholic bookstore. Maybe they had purchased some from Lourdes; I don’t know. I’ve since seen it for sale through Ignatius Press.

We really enjoyed the movie. I’ve never seen Song of Bernadette so can’t make a comparison.

The Song of Bernadette was produced in the 1940s and received five Acadamy Awards and is very good. I bought the movie a year or two ago and loaned it to a non-Catholic Christian friend of mine earlier this year and eventually bought him a copy for his birthday. He told me last week that he’s watched it about 100 times so far this year. That may sound crazy, but I think that says enough about how good it is. It can be found on Amazon and is around $12 on DVD which is a bargain.

Thanks for the recommendation. We’ll definately need to purchase a copy. That starred Jennifer Jones didn’t it? I think she also received an award.

Yes, that is correct. Another award went for the music.
