I’m not sure if this is the proper spot to post this thread, but I was wondering if other people could share what they felt was the best (or most helpful) advice they’ve ever received in the confessional.

I think I just received the best advice ever just a few weeks ago. For most of my life I’ve struggled with certain things and no matter how often I’d pray for God to give me the strength to overcome, I’d slip back into my bad habits.

Anyway, I met with a different priest (helping out with confessions at our church) and he said that I “should make a promise to God that I would never do these things again. Literally say, God I promise I won’t do this ever again.”

I’m going on 2 weeks now free from my old habits, and I haven’t even had the urge to go back to them!

Praise the Lord! Thanks, Jesus. You’re the man!

The best advice I received from Confession was when the priest told me…

“You need to look at people through God-colored glasses. You might not like this person, but God loves them and it is your job as a Christian to figure out why.”

All I can say is that the priest who heard my confession must have been filled completely with the Holy Spirit, because I felt so relieved and so moved by the entire experience that I have never forgotten the feeling. Thank God for this blessed sacrament.
