Best Catholic evangelism organization?

What Catholic organization is doing the best work in the world (besides Catholic Answers, of course) on evangelism? If you wanted to give to support the saving of souls, what group would you give to? Any suggestions?
 
We support EWTN. Mother Angelica was a tremendous force in producing Catholic programming for world-wide evangelizing.
We listen to their radio broadcasts and watch their TV coverage on computer, as we don’t have satellite or cable.
EWTN is a very worthy organization, and has made excellent use of donated funds.
 
Thanks. Yes, I agree that EWTN does some wonderful work. One concern I have is what appears to be a lack of respect for the Magisterium. For example, a recent program on immigration hosted by Raymond Arroyo was very critical of the position of the USCCB on this issue.

I agree with you. If one realized how many times in Scripture “Do not touch my anointed” is stated, one would stay far away from criticism of clergy.

I agree with you that respect for the Magesterium is very important for the faithful, and I do bristle at any criticism or “cheap shots” at the clergy. But I don’t agree that this call comes from the “do not touch my annoited” referenced many times in the Old Testament. You won’t find this reference anywhere in the New Testament, i.e. the teachings of our Lord or his Apostles.

My reference is one of personal revelation, so I can agree with your reply as you state it.
As I worked for and lived with clergy for a number of years, I will say the scriptural reference kept me from criticizing these special servants of God, and increased my prayers for them.:gopray2:

The USCCB is NOT the Magisterium! To criticize the USCCB stance on immigration is not to show disrespect or lack of faithfulness to the Magisterium. In fact, the USCCB has, at times found itself in questionable faithfulness to the Magisterium. An example of this is the current mess with the certain Mass translations.

While we must respect the USCCB, if we see they seem to by taking on questionable issues and diverting people from spiritual issues and the state of our souls, then criticism, sometimes publicly, is appropriate.
 
The Legion of Mary is the best.

The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with about 3 million active members in almost every country of the world. The Legion of Mary has been active in the United States (USA) since 1931, has been approved by 7 Popes, and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.

Members of the Legion of Mary become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service in a family atmosphere. Works include door-to-door evangelization, parishioner visitation, visitation of the sick or aged, Christian education, visiting the newly baptized, visiting families, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community. Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the pastor. The Legion of Mary is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of the pastor.

I like the Bible Christian Society…small but effective. John Martignoni is the head guy over there. His talks on the faith and apologetics have strengthened my faith and knowledge of the Church immeasurably. He has talks you can download in MP3 format, free on his site. Of course he asks for donations, as well he should. Everyone should check out www.biblechristiansociety.com for more info. He’s doing an amazing job.
 
Miles Jesu is small but very active in evangelization. Catholic Resource Center also is small I think but puts on solid conferences. CHN is also an interesting organization.

The smaller organizations seem more effective but unfortunately are strapped for cash more than the rest.

The larger groups seem less effectiv to me. Heard of the Legion of Mary but do not know anyone who has ever seen them knocking door to door. Catholic Extension is large but it does mostly social work from what I have read in its monthly publication. Sort of watered down evangelization.

CUF is a larger group and been around a long time but it still does not have chapters in more than a third of the states. Not to criticize CUF in particular but the larger groups seem to get too “administrative” as in too much overhead and have not a lot of impact at the level of the local church. That is my impression anyway…

That is the absolute best Christian evangelistic organization that I have seen, as far as sold-out for Christ commitment of reaching souls. The way of the missionaries of this organization reflects the way of the early Christians, such as the Apostle Paul, in going from village to village to spread the gospel. I used to support a couple of native missionaries, but then I became Catholic, and am trying to find something Catholic that is similar…

To evangelize in many cases means to evangelize our own Catholics and those jumping Peter’s ship. Some sacramental’s have been given to us from heaven, especially from Mary herself for this very purpose: Green Scapular, Miraculous Medal. Buy some and start passing them out appropriately for that is what she intended. Search on the internet for info. The rosary ring is a great one for everyone, even non-Catholics want these, especially in the hospitals. So the greatest org to evangelize is “usuns”. Got a daughter out of the church, send her a nice “missing you” card with a green scapular that is blessed. The miraculous medal and stainless chain is great for men. These might also be put in the wallet of anyone. Mount a nice picture of Jesus in a frame and give it to a relative who needs it as a gift. Say something like, “I want you to be protected, so I am sending this to you as per instructions of Mary herself. Love you.” If per chance they have a problem with Mary, send them the red scapular of Jesus, always blessed. Its important to get something blessed on them and then start to tear up heaven with your sweet prayers. Tell Mary and Jesus you love them and that they have been testing you a lot and now its your turn to test them. What helps a lot is if Jesus and Mary has a foothold on them thru their sacramentals which generates even a little faith. Be a real disciple for everyone because everyone is needed. And above all, don’t forget yourself and your family when it comes to having one. For more info, do a search, lots of good stuff out there.
 
There is no “One Best Organization”. Many different Catholic Organizations do an excellent job of evangelization, and many individual members of other organizations also do an excellent job.

The “Best” would be a VERY subjective opinion at best. In what way, “The Best”? By who’s criteria? How do you measure it?
