I am curious to see people’s opinion on what they think is the best Catholic Study Bible out right now. There are a few of them out there, but it seems to me that none are great. This thread is meant to discuss complete, one-volume study Bibles, not for example the on-going Ignatius Study Bible or the Navarre Study Bible.

I am surprised that you did not recognize the Navarre Bible which uses the RSV-CE for the english translation and the new vulgate for the latin translation. The footnotes are extensive relying not just on current papal and vatican II works but also the early fathers such as Augustine and doctors of the church such as Thomas Aquinas

I didn’t put the Navarre in the poll because I am focusing the discussion on one-volume study bibles. I own a number of the Navarre commentaries and have found them to be quite helpful, but they are not in a one-volume edition at this point.

I have several bibles but the only study bible I have is the NAB one so I don’t know if its the best or not. I know some posters in other threads don’t like some of the notes in the NAB.

I would try to find a Haydock Bible, although it is technically a two volume set since the OT and NT are covered seperately.

Regardless, the footnotes are orthodox and plentiful and IMHO you just can’t beat the Douay Rheims.
