My favorite is Cinderella.

Maybe because I saw it at the movie theater when I was 4 or so.

I loved it, I loved Gus and Jaq. I also thought that the fairy godmother was singing in Italian because it reminded me of my Nonna :older_woman:t2: and how she spoke. 🤦‍♀️

Adding: the prince was voiced by Mike Douglas. I remember he had a talk/variety show my mom used to watch.

My sister took my other sister and I to see it when I was younger, but maybe a bit older than you? Not sure what year it came out. 🤔

It came out in 1950.

It was rereleased after that. They didn’t have videotapes yet when I was 4, so I guess Disney would release it every so often in theaters.

Ohh, okay. I must have seen it at the rerelease then because I wasn’t around in 1950! 😉

I wasn’t around yet etither. I don’t remember how old I was when I saw it.
Cinderella has my vote.
I can’t really identify with the new Disney characters.

My favorite, too, was Cinderella. It’s the first Disney movie I remember and I was about five…I was born in 1952 so it must have been a re release. What I loved about her was that she wasn’t some pampered royal…she was an abused girl with the best Godmother ever! Also, the mice and birds helped her do her chores!

And I love the phrase bibity bobity boo! Please! I was five! 😂😂😂

Another vote for Cinderella here, because of the relationship she had with the mice and birds. They even sewed her a dress! 😆

I think the reason that Belle is my favorite is because she is a strong, intelligent young woman. She reminds me of my daughter, who incidentally loved that movie as a child. She always had, and still has her head in a book and is devoted to her dad like Belle. She also was sometimes mocked like Belle, but can see the gentleness and charm of “beasts.”

In fact, when she gets married someday, she still plans to use the Beauty and the Beast song for her dance with her dad, the only exception being that she will no longer be dancing by standing on his feet.

And I will just stand by with tears running down my cheeks, haha! 😊

Whenever I get a mouse in the house, they are not nearly as helpful. 🤓

Cinderella, for nostalgia value.

Probably Belle had the most interesting personality of the lot, so she’s runner-up.

Not a fan of the current “politically correct” and “live action remake” and “anime looking characters with oversize heads and big eyes” school of Disney films. I went past a bunch of Frozen dolls at the store yesterday and they just looked ugly to my eyes.

I like Belle too.

I think if I had seen her as a child, I would have liked her very much.

But there is something about your first experience seeing a movie on the big screen.

This is cute and I’m sure people will “get” that she danced with her dad as a child to that song, but I would hope no one thinks she’s considering her dad to be a “Beast”. 😀

The first movie I ever saw in a movie theater was “101 Dalmatians”. I was about 5. I remember we arrived late and it was a few minutes into the movie, so mom and I stayed through the beginning of the next run of the movie so I could see the beginning. No princess in the film, but I still have a soft spot for the entire movie.

To be honest I wasn’t a big fan of being a princess - I liked the fairy tales and Cinderella and stuff, but I preferred animals and animal shows. I didn’t dress up as a princess at home and I wanted to be a veterinarian.

Of the ‘traditional’ Disney princesses, I would agree with Belle.

But now that Disney owns Star Wars … Princess Leia. 😉

Good point, the current characters have a quasi-human appearance to them compared to the proper feminine, pretty animated princesses of the past.

I am also not a fan of having a “diverse” animal cast, e.g. they’re animals, but for some reason they need to speak with hyperbolic accents stereotypical of a race. Therefore you get a “black” dog or an “asian” panda, for instance, but the only reason you know this is because they speak with voices which in any other case would be considered politically incorrect, but in order for the cartoon to come across as “diverse” it’s the only way to make it evident.

Well, he can be at times…😉 But having a daughter softened my husband up more than having a wife ever did. So the lyrics sort of do ring true. 🙂

I loved the movie “101 Dalmatians”! Pongo and Perdita I think were their names.
I was older than 5, maybe 9 or 10.
