What sources do you think provides the most professional, informative, unbiased, and interesting news on the web concerning what is happening in the Catholic Church and what the Pope is up to, etc.?

I don’t avail myself of such sources of information, and probably should be more informed, so I thought I would ask the community.

If you could name just one source to get your information, who would it be? Why?

Thanks

EWTN
The Catholic News Agency
Aeletitia (if that’s how it’s spelled)
The Nat’l Catholic register
(The above 4 have shown themselves to be unbiased and faithful IMO)

If it promotes the TLM, I stay away from it for news just because they can be somewhat biased
If “progressive Catholic” is on it, I avoid it like the plauge.

Could people provide a little commentary on their choices? As to why? Purely optional, of course.

Do you all think it’s advisable to watch EWTN nightly news? I’ve seen that some, and it seemed good…

Crux (https://cruxnow.com/) tends toward pretty straightforward reporting on catholic news. John Allen is extremely well respected as a Catholic journalist and his website is top notch in my opinion. It’s the first place I turn for Catholic news online.

For my original post, these sources are non rad trad, not progressive. However there are a few writers on one of them who are left leaning, based on their Facebook rants. Those ones I avoid reading their articles.

Are some more ready to give an honest critique to the Pope’s actions than others are? Which ones?

Raymond Arroyo at EWTN has always seemed on the up&up to me

I agree with Crux being a reliable source. Unlike some sources, they don’t seem to be promoting an agenda. Instead they simply report what’s happening plus they have the analysis of John Allen who is well respected and knowledgeable.

I disagree on Arroyo. He is skewed by his views on American politics. It’s not necessarily a good or bad thing, but it definitely has a bias.

And does EWTN, for example, address allegations made by Lifesitenews? Like that recent article… Hell ‘does not’ exist…sinful souls ‘disappear,’ Pope Francis allegedly tells favorite interviewer?

Just curious.

Yes, but I think he acknowledges it and doesen’t deny he’s biased

I consider the New Oxford Review orthodox to Catholic teachings. I wouldn’t use the term “unbiased” though. Certainly they’re slanted toward Catholicism more than Protestantism, for example.

National Catholic Register especially Ed Pentin. I like the Wanderer Newspaper for their Pro Life coverage but also very good learning the Faith articles. LifeSiteNews news is also good for investigative reporting as well as Church Militant. Fr. Z’s blog is essential. There are some excellent priests on social media like the ipadre Fr. Finelli.
