I’ve seen Liberating A Continent, which I found wonderful. But what do people think about the other movies about his life? I’ve heard about Pope John Paul II with Cary Elwes and John Voight, and also Karol: A Man Who Would Become Pope, but I don’t know about any others.

Thoughts?

Thoughts, hmm. There are clips of the assassination attempt, masses, images, Vatican hosted letters about his Scapular, and Popes even have their own coat of arms. I’m sure if you explore, you might be the one to make another documentary…

😉

The one where John Voight played JP2 was an excellent movie. At the time, I feared that the network would try to turn the story into an anti-Catholic or anti-JP2 rant; but they did not. They did a very thorough and indeed moving movie about him. My only complaint about it was that it was too short. John Voight was completely convincing and genuine.

I totally agree about the Elwes/Voight movie. I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I thought it was very well done.
