I am surprised on your posts on this thread.A closed adoption to a devout Catholic couple is what is best for the children.
Agreed. The issue here for some does not appear to be her age, it is about her being unwed.Where did this idea that teenagers can’t raise children come from?
A few decades ago, an 18 year old would probably already be married.
A few centuries ago, a 14 year old would probably already be married.
Anyone over 16 can get a job. Lots of teenage mothers successfully raise children – some by themselves.
I don’t understand why so many people are advising adoption for a baby that will be born to a full-fledged adult who has the support – both financial and emotional – of her family.
What is it with Catholics and this idea that children are a blessing from God, but not if you happen to be a teenager still, and then we’d better get rid of it? I say in complete honesty that I have NEVER seen so many people advocate for adoption in such situations as I have on these forums.
Do you really wish you had never been born? That’s so sad. I’m sorry. But most children, even those growing up in painful circumstances, prefer living to never having gotten the chance to live. By the way, many people on the thread have NOT been promoting adoption, so it’s a bit unfair to characterize this as “everyone’s” opinion.Adoption, adoption…everyone is for adoption! Do you realise how difficult it is for someone to adopt a baby? Do you realise? I, myself, have been adopted, and my parents went through A LOT of s*** for that. Because of your way of thinking, many children end up on the streets or even worse. Not many children get adopted. Do you really think that by abandoning a soul God is going to be pleased? What a funny joke! They should take responsibility for their little night of fun, even if that sounds cruel. Most of you are against abortion, well, if it was by me, abortion is clearly the best decision here, and giving for adoption the worst. But, no, the really best one is that they should have been careful and mature about the whole thing. Education is very important in this case. I’m not trying to be rude to anyone , but this is just plain wrong. Oh, and wow! Now we’re talking about the trauma that can be suffered by the “mother”? Pitiful, indeed.
Sometimes not being born sounds like a good idea, but you never know, that is indeed true. Even so, we’re talking about very harsh environment! I’m sorry if I have offended you by saying “everyone’s”. I was mostly talking about the people in the first pages that were suggesting this. Then, again, I apologise and I’ll be more careful about such things in the futureDo you really wish you had never been born? That’s so sad. I’m sorry. I think we can all agree that the couple never should have conceived the child in these circumstances; that is one reason why it is so important to wait for marriage to have sex. The baby exists, though, so that’s the reality these families have to deal with. Certainly no one is suggesting that there are easy answers.
