Hola!

What are some of your favourite Trad blogs and why (if you feel so inclined to share).

Well of course Fr. Z’s blog…

wdtprs.com/blog/

Besides his own excellent commentary and bringing to light liberal dissent, If you read his blog daily you will discover other Traditional blogs. He links to them frequently.

New Liturgical Movement…does an excellent job of promoting the Traditional Latin Mass.

Let’s see: at this moment on their website, the Remnant refers to “Pope Francis and his pornographic vocabulary.” The Rorate Cæli site routinely and repeatedly demeans and insults the Holy Father. Is that the current profile for “best Trad blogs?”

:eek: Wow. Won’t waste any time on any of those.

Rorate Caeli is widely acknowledged as the best traditional Catholic news site. They receive information from a wide variety of sources and express a wide variety of views. It’s be best marketplace of ideas for traditional Catholics. I don’t agree with everything that is written, but I’m not afraid to debate or listen to ideas.

Non-traditional Catholics and even secular outlets have expressed misgivings over Pope Francis’s use of the term, “coprophagia”, so I’m not sure it’s fair to single out the Remnant over this issue in particular.
Exactly. I don’t fully agree with the Remnant’s editorial position but they’re fair. Michael Matt is a genuine man who loves the Church, but he recognises the great crisis that we are in. This crisis was also acknowledged by Paul VI and Fulton Sheen. Sheen said we’re in the fourth great crisis in the Church. The Remnant catalogues the evidence for this and provides insightful commentary.

It would be helpful to separate out these 2 things:

“Trad blogs” or other conservative ministries approved by their bishop;

as opposed to

Trad blogs or other conservative ministries NOT approved by their bishop;

Fr Z has approval of his bishop, as do some other Trad ministries, which can identify themselves as Catholic. This does not mean the bishop agrees with everything, but finds the ministry as meeting the definition of Catholic;

Rorate Caeli, Remnant, Church Militant, do not have have approval of their bishop. Maybe they did not want a relationship with their ordinary, maybe there is another reason. That does not mean they are bad, but that info is relevant. To make the thread interesting, consider listing your fav blog in either category.

One of problems that comes up when you refuse to even visit certain sites because they’re considered to be critical of the Pope-Vatican-Bishops, etc, is that sometimes they may be the only source of information regarding a verifiable news story. For instance, Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan recently gave an interview in English to Church Militant in which he spoke very critically of Pope Francis and Amoris Laetitia. Now whether you consider that to be horrific, great, or something else entirely different, the fact is, Bishop Schneider quite obviously did say these things and the video is out there. At the moment though, the story only seems to be found on sites that many here would consider controversial.

I’m now a Catholic because of Traditional sites. The first one I landed on is Ann Barnhardt. I know many are against her…but I like her. She speaks harsh truths, but explains herself well. I visit The Remnant, One Peter 5, Fisheaters regularly.
