Best translation of the Apostolic Fathers

I am looking to purchase the writings of the Apostolic Fathers and was wondering if anyone could recommend a translation? Most of the translations I have seen are done by Protestants. I think I may have read something awhile back that stated that the Catholic University of America has an edition of the Fathers but can’t find any information to verify this on their site.

I already have the Apostolic Fathers in ebook format from the ccel.org website but reading by computer screen is hard on my eyes so I am looking for book recommendations. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are several good books there, including the collection of their writings.

Also, Mike Aquilina put out a very good book on quotes from the Church Fathers, Fathers Know Best. You can find it on EWTN.com

I believe Mike Aquilina’s book is titled, “The Fathers of the Early Church”.

Jimmy Aiken wrote a fine book titled, “The Fathers Know Best”. It deals with various basics of Catholic doctrine by giving the readers various writings by the early fathers which relate directly to the specific doctrine.

Yes, that is the book by Mike Aquilina that I have… JR already mentioned the ¨Fathers Know Best¨ book. I was thinking of getting it but in the table of contents preview for the book it kind of reminded me of the Jurgens 3 volume book where everything is laid out according to a particular topic. So I don´t want a book that will repeat basically the same ¨excerpts¨ from the Fathers as in Jurgens books.

Does anyone have the Jimmy Akin’s book and have compared it with the Jurgens 3 volume?

I’m sorry about that. Jimmy Atkins wrote Fathers Know Best. The one that I have by Mike Aquilina The Way of the Fathers and Fathers of the Church: Expanded Edition.

My favorite work is Sunday Sermons of the Great Fathers: A Manual of Preaching, Spiritual Reading, and Meditation. Ignatius has it. I paid about $85.00 for it when it first came out.
