Okay, NotWorthy. Why bother talking about my talking? Stick to the issue. Tell us: Is the Adam and Eve story imperfectly historical?
Yes and no.

Did we all descend from Adam and Eve? Yes.
Where there any outside variants added into the genes of these two in order to prevent your stomach from recoiling in disgust? No.

Did the Creation account of Genesis occur precisely as it is presented? I don’t know or really care. The Church teaches that one is allowed to believe it as such, or not.

I showed you the 9 things from the Creation account that we as Catholics are required to believe including the fact that we are the progeny of Adam and Eve (with no unrelated people added into the mix to prevent 1st and 2nd generation incest… and your stomach from turning over ;))

Have I answered your question adequately (even if you disagree)?

Let me ask you this clear question, friend: We this Adam and Eve you are referring to two people talked to by a talking serpent?
BTW, you forgot to add the “Dr. Seuss” style in which Genesis was written.

Let’s see…
Snake “Will you eat this apple, Eve? Will you eat it by your leave?”
Eve “I will eat this apple Asp. I will eat the one I grasp”.
Adam “Eve, Eve, what have we done? God’s coming! Quick, to the bushes we must run!”

I’ll comment later, friend. I’ve got to do some work. I actually appreciate the strong language. It clarifies issues. Sometimes, diplomacy is the biggest lie.

Who was the serpent?? The Devil. Do you not know of what devil is capable of??? Still I am awaiting proof that Adam and Eve was a myth. You provide no supporting evidence, let alone credible sourcing. Yourself doesn’t count as a credible source.

Sometimes, Toby, you are not clear, because I think that you are more afraid of appearing imperfect than you are proud of your beliefs.

Did Cain have sex with his sister?

And what will you say? Will you say “Yes?” Will you say “No.” No. What do you answer?

With other people’s work and quotes and claims that you already answered.

Anything but “Yes.” Anything but “No.”

I don’t think that you want to really discuss eye-to-eye.
I gave you an answer earlier in the thread. I guess you must have not read that post :doh2:

Toby, there are 125 posts here.

Save us all time.

Yes.

No.

Which?
If you didn’t read it the first time why should I repeat multiple times??? Yet I have asked for proof from a credible source that Genesis and Adam and Eve was a myth and yet no evidence 🤷

I guess no one can give credible proof that Adam and Eve as a myth and why they choose to disobey the Magisterium

Hi, Toby.

You keep posting without just writing either the three letter word “yes” or the two letter word “no.”

16 "It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another,
17 ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance, we sang a dirge but you did not mourn.’ " Matthew 11:16-17.

God bless you.

I gave you an answer. Take my advice and look for it. You are the only one looking for my answer, but everyone hear is looking for proof that Adam and Eve was myth. Like I said earlier I choose not to disobey the Magisterium

There are evidence in bilble about incest relationship which are normal and nothing wrong in it .But why in Leviticus 18:6-18 it is suddenly forbid-ed and declared wrong and crime.
🙂

Scriptually there is nothing in the Adam and Eve story that points to incest. I think that is an assumption because of Lot incident.we hear of Cain having a wife ;she came from another place. If she were Cain’s sister than why was she in another town? Did. Mom and dad kick her out and let her wander? Why would the inspired writer mention another place and why wouldn’t he mention incest as the origin of Cain’s wife? He had no compunction mentioning Lot’s daughters Twisted Sister act?.
There are stories in the Bible that seem to come out of nowhere then quickly disappear leaving us scratching our heads.(the Nephillim story, Noah and uncovering his nakedness in Genesis) Many of these stories are believed by scholars as incomplete tales or stories so familiar to that audience in ancient times that they didn’t need any further explanation from the writer. Mention “glass Slipper” to someone in the West and they can fill in all the blanks.
The bottom line is we don’t know. Scripture isn’t clear. Anything else is an assumption - and you know what assumptions do to folks!
