They were handing out NTs so I took one, but are they Catholic? May I read that NT without any fear of wrong translation?
 
They had a stand with books about christianity and some NTs. Polite guy was handing out the books to everybody.

“Fear” is the wrong word. There’s nothing to be afraid of. It won’t bite you.

Look at the title page. It probably says something like New International Version or English Standard Version. What is it?

There’s about 1% chance that it’s Catholic, but the New Testament isn’t really different for Catholics and Protestants. The translation might be a little off, but you’re not going to go about interpreting the meaning of scripture in isolation from the Church anyway — that would be Protestant behavior. Behavior should always be a bigger concern than an inanimate object.
 
Unless I am mistaken, Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation (BLMF) appears to be run by Baptists. The English Bibles and New Testaments they produce and distribute are only the King James Version.

The 1859 Haydock Bible, in its General Preface to the New Testament, mentions some places in the King James Version New Testament that Catholics ought to watch out for. See footnote [1], here.

I live in Croatia, so it has Croatian translation, it doesn’t seem all that different from my Bible (except the titles). It doesn’t say what translation it is though.

As @Todd_Easton pointed out in his post #6, this New Testament is evidently a translation used by the Baptist Church. There’s probably very little difference from a Catholic translation, except that in Catholic Bibles we normally see more footnotes and fuller introductions.
