This is a very beautifully, well-done audio bible that comes to life with its drama played out by different actors. Jim Caviezel plays Jesus, in the exact same way as he did for the Passion of the Christ. The New Testament just came out this October and apparantly the Old Testament is in the works. This is alot different from any ordinary audio book, where the narrator just reads the words, in this audio bible the actors act it out with emotions along with sounds effects. This is a must look into from anyone who likes to read Sacred Scripture.
Produced by: Carl Amari
Co-Produced by: Raymond Arroyo and Jim Caviezel

I looked at one of the introductions on the link, and I see that Michael York who played John the Baptist in Jesus of Nazareth and Stacy Keach who played Barabbus in the same movie provide their voices (in different roles though). Looks quite good, I hope this will be available in Australia.

We are making this product available world wide and you can sample quite a bit from www.TheWordOfPromise.com website. This is the official website for the product.

Check out our new free downloads as well.

Thanks
Rodney

The version is the New King James Version.

You can sample the recording at www.thewordofpromise.com

Hit the download button and then enter your email. You will get about 10 different clips you can listen too.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the response Rodney. The project looks and sounds interesting, although I’m a bit disappointed that Jim Caviezel would take part in this. From everything that I’ve read, he’s a devout Catholic who should understand why the NKJV is a fundamentally flawed Bible.

Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you use the RSV?

Do you have any plans to release a Catholic version? Perhaps the Douay Rheims?

Thanks for the comment back. We used the NKJV because of Thomas Nelson’s support to fund the project. We are looking at other versions in the future but we don’t have these in the works at the moment. We’ll be working on the OT for the next 2 years to have it out by Fall of 2009.

Thanks again for your feedback and sorry I couldn’t give you a more definitive time frame on a Catholic version

I bought it as a Christmas gift for my parents tonight, and couldn’t HELP but open it 😃 I absolutely LOVE the voice acting. Jim Caviezel gave me chills as Jesus. You should all check it out.

I really enjoy these types of projects: using different voices in the production.

I would definitely purchase this if a Catholic Bible based version were available. 👍
