Help! I bought this lovely thick Catholic bible-study book titled “Bible Basics” a year ago and lent it to a young man studying the Faith. I haven’t seen it since and I’m trying to find another one - but all I get when I do a search is Protestant books of the same name!
Does anyone know of this book and where I can buy it - or does anyone have any info about this book i.e. ISBN # or author name?
THANKS!!

the Steve Kellmeyer Bible Basics book is the best for learning and teaching the scriptural basis for Catholic belief, it is an exhaustive college level text, and should be required reading for any Catholic apologist. The best first book to read for embarking on a systematic reading or study of Scripture is the Mark Shea book, Making Sense out of Scripture. The best pocket guide for the apologist is Where is that in the Bible? by Patrick Madrid, and its companion, Where is that in Tradition?

A good short summary of the biblical roots of the faith is the Catholic Church and the Bible by Fr. Peter Stravinskis, which includes a chapter that was earlier a pamphlet which details the source in scripture for each part of the Mass. A very good book for teen RE classes is the Teen Guide to the Bible by Fr. McBride. Takes each book, tells what is going on and why, why it is relevant, what it teaches us today, and how it becomes part of salvation history.

It sure looks like the right book…and the author’s name sounds familiar but I could have sworn it had a totally different cover with a picture of a young man and young woman bent over a Bible and a little ‘voice balloon’ over them saying, “Wow I didn’t know the Bible said this…” (or something like that…)

I wonder…what a mystery! hehehe

I have an older edition than the one that shows up on Amazon, and that sounds like the cover illustration, it is full-size, 8x11 or bigger

Yup, it’s the same one. It’s been through a revision or two.

Wonderful!!! I’m so happy - I was looking all over for that book and thought that the one with the photo of blocks on the cover was the wrong book.
