I’m looking for a whole Bible-both New and Old Testaments, in standard English with excellent, footnotes, and commentary. I’ve already got a Challoner-Douay-Rheims, and a Confraternity of Christian doctrine Bibles, however I’m looking for a Bible with more more modern English with Excellent footnotes and/or commentary for aid in studying, all in one volume. I’ve seethe Navarre Bible and its bibilical commentaries advertised, however I desire a bible in one Book edition, with solid Orthodox Catholic footnotes.
Pax Christi,
Matthew

The Ignatius Bible set, though it only includes New Testament books, published as individual volumes with extensive, and orthodox, commentary.

I heard Mark Brumley, the publisher of Ignatius Press, on Catholic Answers Radio recently, and he said that they hope to finish the New Testament of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible in the next year. It is my understanding that when it is finished it will be published in one volume. That should help you, if you can wait a little while. It will probably take a long time for an Old Testatment to come out. I am not even sure if they are working on such a project. Does anyone out there know about this?

Yeah, I’ve thought of that, but wouldn’t it be redundant since I’ve already got the Challoner-Douay-Rheims, and Confraternity, or is the Haydock one a new translation of the Vulgate into English by Haydock himself?

I saw the New Testament portion of the St. Ignatius Bible with Commentary and footnotes, however, I was hoping for the Old testament as well.

I highly recommend the Navarre. I’ve not seen better. There are some good Catholic concordances out there as well.

Grace and Peace,

The commentaries in the Handock/D-R are extensive and cannot be compared to Challoner/D-R or Confraternity. I highly suggest you check it out.

Peace and God Bless.

Try and find “A Catholic Commentary” by Ochs et al. It’s a winner.
