I heard on a Catholic radio station that Marcus Grodi hosted thta he mentioned that in ythe Bible it states the need for an interpetation. I am asking anyone who can help me where in the Bible (what passage) states whe need help in interpating the Bible. We as catholics know its the catholi Church. I am going to use this as defense agasinst Sola Scriptura.

Not sure where specifically, but it’s in one of Peter’s letters. He specific says that some of Paul’s teachings (letters) are difficult to understand.

Another place is in the Acts of the Apostles (I think). A man is trying to read Scripture on the side of the road and one of the Apostles comes up to him and asks him if he knows what he’s reading. The man replies “How can I if someone doesn’t explain it to me?”

Sorry, I know you were probably looking for specific chapter and verse, but maybe I at least helped jog some other peoples memories.

One passage that supports this is Acts 8:26-40. This is the story where Philip is called to travel the desert road south out of Jerusalem. He meets up with the Ethiopian, who is reading Isaiah. Philip asks him if he understands what he is reading. The Ethiopian replies “How can I, unless someone guides me.”

2 Peter is basically a letter warning Christians against false teachers and to adhere to the faith handed on after his upcoming martyrdom.

2 Peter 1:19-21
And we have the prophetic made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prohecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
2 Peter 3:13-18
But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
You see, Peter here warns that false teachers will come who will twist the scriptures and lead others astray into lawlessness. The faithful, however, are to ahere to the interpretation handed down by the Apostles.
