Mark 14:37
When he returned he found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?
I was talking to my pastor about prayer a few weeks back. He made mention that we should set time aside for prayer when we are least likely to be disturbed and then stick to the plan no matter what. He said that if you set aside 20 minutes for a Rosary at a given time of the day, then follow through on it regardless of how dry or inconvenient it gets. If you get done in 15 minutes, then sit and meditate for the remaining 5. He said that it teaches discipline (which I took to mean self-discipline).
I feel he is right because it can be a sacrifice to pray at the same time every day when you would rather put it off for later. However, then it gets put off to the next day sometimes. It seems that God might appreciate that we stuck to the plan regardless of how we feel about it at the moment.
With that, I was wondering if there were any other passages - new or old testament that go to such discipline or self-discipline???
