Does anyone know what the Church teaches on bible prophecies? I have friends that say some bible prophecies have been fulfilled in our day (such as Israel becoming a nation) and some others. I know that those who try to apply prophecies to present events are usually misinterpreting the passages, but can anyone give me some sort of insight on what the Church teaches about these type of topics? Specifically in talking about the nation of Israel.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks a little of the End Times in paragraphs 674-677, www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt2art7.htm.

The Jews are mentioned but not the state of Israel nor a rebuilt Temple:

The glorious Messiah’s coming is suspended at every moment of history until his recognition by “all Israel,” … The “full inclusion” of the Jews in the Messiah’s salvation, in the wake of “the full number of the Gentiles,” will enable the People of God to achieve “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,” in which “God may be all in all.” (CCC, 674)
