I am looking for good Catholic bible software that has seach and keyword capability along with commentary, etc.

I have Quickverse but it is for the protestant bible and lacks the deuterocanonicals. It has the KJV, NSRV, and NIV, but I am looking for good software that has the NAB and other Catholic translations.

Does anyone have any good bible software to recommend?

thanks

www.e-sword.net has a free program which can be downloaded. You can download a number of public domain translations, including the Vulgate and Douay-Rheims (They also have the KJV with “Apocryphya”, as they call it.) There are a number of various things you can do with the program. I like it a lot, especially since it is free.

I got a software program that has over 15 different (maybe more) Bible translations including two forms of Greek and Hebrew, and I think Latin. I’ll check it out tonight and let you know where it came from.

Here’s the Bible software I have - It’s called “The Bible Library Version 4 Deluxe Edition”. It is produced by Ellis Enterprises. It contains 14 Bible translations; 6 word studies; 5 commentaries; 6 cross references & concordances; 13 references, historical works, and helps; 8 topic studies; 21 maps; 1000 Christian cliparts images. The Bible editions are as follows:
ASV
KJV
Living Bible
Morris Literal Translation
NAB
NASB
NJB
NKJV
NRSV
RSV
Simple English Bible NT
Transliterated: Pronounceable
Transliterated: Unaccented

One thing about this software that I really like is you can put verses next to each other from several different translations so that you can see the difference.

Their web address is www.biblelibrary.com

Hope that helps!

Hello Dan,

I run The Bible Library for Catholics CD ROM. It is published by Liguori Publications, Liguori MO.

It has New American Bible, NRSV Catholic Edition, Revised Standard Version with Apocrypha.

It has English to Greek, English to Hebrew, Strongs number to Greek and Hebrew and Naves Topical Index.

I usually only use the New American Bible search engine and have not looked at the rest. I have not compared other bible on disk software to know the differences.

Peace in Christ,
Steven Merten

If you want to shell out BIG BUCKS, there are programs like Bibleworks. They are not Catholic, but their software is quite nifty. Has the deuteros, plus the rest of the known universe. Great for searching.
