**Has anyone ever come across Muslims that make the claim the bible contradicts itself? **

If so, what verses have they spoke of and what was your answer to them?

For example, How did Judas die?
Who was created first, Man or Animals?
What happened to the people with Paul when he got knocked off his high horse?

A side note, has anyone ever used this to prove the necessity of an Authorative Church?

Yeah right, like their Quran does not contradict itself. google “quran contradiction”

Plus there are apochrypha and pseudigraph writings, heretical writings, in their Quran.

Responding by saying “oh yeah, well your book contridicts itself too” isn’t much of a defense of the Bible.

There was a thread from a month or so ago witch adressed many of the contrictions. I will try and search for it. I will say that while there are some instances in which the bible appears to contridict itself, these instances can be shown to not be against one another.

ITs really not fair for a Christian to say the Quran contradicts itself nor a Muslim to say the Bible contradicts itslef as with any holy text hermaneutic their is context and tradition that can help to explain such things.

I do find the Quran quite jumpy there is no beginning to end story as in the BIble just a lot of jumbled tradtions randomly placed so it is hard to understand as a continuous story.

WE have ways to explain contradtictions in the Bible that are just surface contradictions and so do the Muslims on thier take on the Quran.

I do have problems with the Quran but contradictions are not one of them. IF you read Romans it sure as heck clashes with Leviticus and the law if you know what I mean. We just don’t think of that since we just kinda accept it as logical progression of Revelation from God. So don’t play the contradiction game its an unfair call on the Muslim-catholic dialogue. Funny thing is both sides play this game without seeing their own faiths surface contradtions.

I chose to do so because I don’t wanna give the usual response of showing how to reconcile the verses, which I can.

you make good points, however I see possibiloty here for evangelization. The fact that we both, Muslim and Christian, have these in our sacred books and that it comes down to correctly interpreting these texts, a bond is forged. we are similar again, but with diffferences. What is interesting is to discuss these differences with a protestant. Often, not all times, they take the bible literally and this causes some strong feelings, sometimes doubt, on their part. with a good explaination of these, they can see the bible for what it really is, for how to interpret the bible and more importantly - the place Mother church has in regards tot he Sacred Scriptures. so rather than a game to be played, which does happen, it becomes an apologetics tool! Many of my protestant freinds are now looking at the scriptures more critically and openly because of discussions I’ve had with them on this subject. They take pride in knowing their scriptures. I con only hope that this will lead to their coming to know the turth of the Catholic Church. and it may well be on its way since they have asked me several times about other passages. My favorite one the asked about was the Petrine text in Matthew 16 and John 6 - the Papacy and The Eucharist! Two huge stumbling blocks they may be on their way down.

My question was not designed to tempt people into argument, but to see if they are willing to take a new look at an old problem.

Does anyone else have any comments about Contradictions int he bible and their place in apologetics?🙂
