Bibles for Handout

Hello,

Two questions: I’m looking for a cheap (sounds terrible I know) Catholic Bible that can be bought in bulk and passed out in evangelization; for example during homeless food runs. I was thinking something along the lines of a Gideon bible, but with a Catholic translation. Also, does anyone know if the Biblia de Jerusalem (Spanish Bible) has a Catholic “Gideon-like” edition also? I’m currently living in an area that has a high population of both Spanish and English homeless and having both on hand would allow us to reach more of the downtrodden in our area.

the least expensive bibles in bulk are the NAB or GNT from American Bible Society (make sure bibles purchased from them have the cross symbol indicating imprimatur). the Santa Biblia Spanish Catholic edition corresponds to the GNT type translation. Cannot find Biblia Jerusalen (or other good Spanish translation) in a low cost edition (my idea of low cost is $5 per for this purpose, $8 max). There is a pocket size Latinoamerica edition that sometimes goes on sale through the clearning houses or Autom for around $10 in bulk.

Parish just purchased NAB St Jerome editon for $4 per in bulk, free shipping, but think offer has expired, Autom has NAB (the red one) on sale for $3.99 but shipping is about 10%. That is as cheap as I have seen a paperback bible since I have been purchasing bulk lots.

are two clearing houses that sell new and lightly used textbooks and other books, search under textbooks, catechisms, bibles etc. for what you need, they also have good sales from time to time

Reviving this thread after years of dormancy but I think a lot of people have been looking for something like this. I finally found a Catholic Bible that you can buy in bulk for about $2.30 a piece. Might not be the best translation but at least it would be affordable for anyone looking to start a free bible ministry. Scroll to about the middle of the page for the GNT version. This was suprisingly a lot harder than I initially thought it would be to find. Enjoy if you are so inclined!

the least expensive bibles are the NAB paperback with the red cover, available in bulk purchase for $4-5 each, or those Catholic translations with imprimatur of the NAB or GNT from the American Bible Society. The only low cost (under $10) Spanish bible in an approved Catholic translation I have found is the Santa Biblia Catholic edition, from the American Bible Society. The are about $5-6 in bulk parish pricing.
