Biblical evidence of the divinity of Jesus Christ as the Son of God

Matthew 3.17
And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.’

Matthew 16:15-17
He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’
Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’
And Jesus answered him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah!
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.

Matthew 27.54:
Now when the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were terrified and said, ‘Truly this man was God’s Son!’

Matthew 28.18-20:
And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’

Mark 9.7
Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!’

Mark 14:61-63
But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?’
Jesus said, ‘I am; and “you will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of the Power”,
and “coming with the clouds of heaven.” ’
Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, ‘Why do we still need witnesses?

Luke 1.35:
The angel said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God.

Luke 4.9-12
Then the devil* took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10for it is written,
“He will command his angels concerning you,
to protect you”, and “On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.” ’
Jesus answered him, ‘It is said, “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” ’

Luke 4.41:
Demons also came out of many, shouting, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah.*

Luke 22:67-71
They said, ‘If you are the Messiah, tell us.’
He replied, ‘If I tell you, you will not believe;
and if I question you, you will not answer.
But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.’
All of them asked, ‘Are you, then, the Son of God?’
He said to them, ‘You say that I am.’
Then they said, ‘What further testimony do we need?
We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!’

John 1.34:
And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.

John 1.49:
Nathanael replied, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!’

John 10:36-38
can you say that the one whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world is blaspheming because I said, “I am God’s Son”?
If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me.
But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.’

John 20.28:
Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’

Acts of the Apostles 9.20:
and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues,
saying, ‘He is the Son of God.’

There is also:

John 8:28- 29 “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that I do nothing on my own, but i say only what the father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. He is not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him.”

Of course a clincher is Thomas’ cry of ‘My Lord and my God’. As an observant Jew, who was neither deluded nor deceitful, Jesus would’ve refused such worship of Him as being blasphemous unless He both believed and intended others to believe that He was God.

There’s also one of Paul’s epistles which contains the beautiful passage:

‘Although He was in the form of God, Jesus did not count equality with God as something to be grasped, instead He emptied Himself, taking on the form of a servant’ (not that Jesus was literally anyone’s servant or slave, He was an ordinary human being, no more nor less - it’s only if He were God that taking on human form would be considered ‘emptying Himself’).

Paul then goes on to say ‘at the name of Jesus every knee shall bend, in heaven, on earth and under the earth’. Neither God the Father nor Paul would countenance such worship of any other than a divine being, so Jesus is indeed divine.
