As Mr. Biden is concerned about climate change, etc., his views and policies may align with some practical aspects of Christian stewardship of God’s Creation, and he may do some good works in this area. [edited to retract what followed] However, I wouldn’t take that to mean that he has read or appreciates Pope Francis’s writings.

Biden regularly quotes the Pope and his encyclicals, so I think it is obvious that he does read and appreciate the Pope’s writings.

President-elect Biden did quote from Fratelli Tutti while campaigning back in October, specifically mentioning that he was quoting Pope Francis, so it would not surprise me if he has read or is at least familiar with Laudato Si as well. Based on his cabinet choices yesterday, it seems like the care of our common home will be one of his priorities.

I doubt Joe actually sits and reads those encyclicals. More like his speechwriter does.
