Birth Control for amenorrhea

I have a daughter in college who has very bad amenorrhea. She has never had regularity of her menstrua cycle and has very bad cramping that causes her to vomit. Her gynecologist has placed her on birth control which has made this condition much improved. Is this allowed by the Catholic church?

I believe it is licit, if it is for medical (non-contraceptive) reasons and is not a BCP that is an abortifacient.

As has been pointed out in numerous other threads, it would be wise ask what is causing the amenorrhea. Based on this article, the BCP may only be treating the symptoms, not the cause.
