Birth control question and abortifacient

I understand that the teaching of the Catholic Church is that birth control pills are abortifacients, causing abortion of a conceived fetus by preventing implantation. However, I am having trouble finding any studies that support this and I would like to be able hand out some materials to people about this with references.

This is not a “teaching of the Catholic Church”. The Catholic Church teaches on Faith and Morals.

This is science and chemistry, it is printed on the patient information inside every box of hormonal birth control.

You can sit down at your computer, google the brand name of every hormonal birth control device with the words “patient insert” or “package insert” - Once you get there, use the search feature for the word “implantation”. Now you can print that page and have it to give to whomever you want. You can also challenge the people you speak to - they can go home and read that sheet they toss in the trash.

The number ONE avoidable cause of womens cancer is, … birth control pills and abortion.

When knowledge of this starts to spread, you will see the Susan G Komen society just withdraw into a dark recess. For now, they are bent on making money and hiding the truth.

There is no actual teaching on " the pill" the teaching is on artificial contraception. There is no proven link between birth control pills and abortion, that is simply the fact. It is reasonable to believe some part of abortions could be from pills thinning lining which then lost additional attempts to implant fertilized eggs. I hope that helps understand “the pill” issue. That’s not true, and scientific studies don’t back it up. BC does slightly increase your risk for certain cancers, and it lowers your risk for others. And FYI, the number one avoidable cause for cancer in women is smoking.

Breast cancer rates in the USA are on the increase. Before 1970, about 1 in 12 women developed breast cancer. During the early 1980’s that figure increased to 1 woman in 10. By the late 1980’s, it worsened to 1 woman in 8 getting breast cancer. Now that figure has swelled to 1 in 6 – double that of just 35 years ago.

Finally, in October of 2006, the Mayo Clinic announced in the their publication the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, the conclusion from 34 different studies that:

“Use of oral contraceptives is associated with an increased risk of pre-menopausal breast cancer, especially with use before FTTP (first full term pregnancy) in parous women (women who have given birth).”

Another section of this same Mayo Clinic article was their startling observation that it didn’t make any difference how long you took BCP’s. The risk of getting breast cancer wasn’t dependent on how long a person was on the Pill.

This means even very short term users of the Pill had the same chances of developing breast cancer as those taking it for a long time. Any exposure for any length of time to BCP’s increases your risk of getting breast cancer.

It gets even worse. The breast cancer that the Mayo Clinic is referring to is the kind you get before you reach menopause - the 30 – 45 year old age group.

Finally, the Mayo Clinic concluded women who took BCP’s before their first full term pregnancy had the highest risk of all. In other words, this means very young women and girls taking BCP’s, even for short periods of time, are at the highest risk of breast cancer than all other groups.

Now I’m sure you are aware of the prestigious reputation of the Mayo Clinic. This site also discusses risks involved with other cancers and diseases that are directly related to the pill with sources. It is also not a pro-life website.

All you have to do is get the information from the manufacturer of the pill. It says so plainly in the descriptions of how the pill acts. This is easily available online or from the pharmacist or library.
