Did you have a method failure (your chart clearly said you shouldn’t have been fertile but you got pregnant) or did you misinterpret your chart?

If it was a true method failure, you should send your charts to your teacher/organization so they can study it. If you misinterpreted your chart, then maybe a refresher course is in order…

I don’t have a teacher/organizer. I don’t know if the goof was my fault or a method failure in all honesty. I am self taught. I had always been very confident that I had it right though since I studied the method thouroughly and had been very cautious with taking my temp each morning, but maybe it was my goof up. I don’t know.

Here’s a great online learning manual:
nfpandmore.org

Though you might benefit from an actual class, esp since you’re not sure what happened. It looks like you’re in Germany? I’m not sure what your options would be–teacher wise, though there has to be some one there as I’ve found an online study of NFP 🙂 Check with your local diocese

I used real NFP for one year before it finally failed me… So it works, but it won’t work forever… I mean… I am nervous about continuing to use it.

I want to wait 3 years at least and 5 at most before having my next baby. Having another one too soon… just can’t afford.

But I know the right answer is NFP. It’s just frustrating. I really don’t want to end up like my relative w/ 10 children…
I haven’t seen your charts or reviewed your method, so I can’t speak to whether or not you had a user error, but I know that the comprehensive method I use (Sympto-Thermal) has given users several rules with varying degrees of desired efficacy. For example, if a couple has a serious reason to avoid pregnancy, they recommend a very conservative rule (which results in maybe 1-2 more days abstinence), but if the need is not so great and they would like to gain a couple more days of intimacy in exchange for a slightly higher chance of conception, they can use a different rule.

Also, the length of time charting helps can make a difference. My husband and I were VERY conservative the first few months, because I was unsure of myself and my interpretation. During these months, I could not have figured my charts out without my counselor. It is possible for couples to learn NFP on their own, but when there is a serious reason to avoid, an experienced coach should review the first few charts and teach the couple to interpret them properly.

Please explain this one. Its a bit insulting at face value and I’m letting it pass, hoping the reasons you don’t want to be like them BEYOND the amount of children they have.

BTW, when we had our first, we were looking up to an E3 pay grade. We trusted God, and have been blessed in more ways than you can count.

Yes, I missed this dig, too. Probably for the best. There are worse things in this world than having 10 children–not being able to have any children, would probably top the list. I “only” have 6, what must you think of me and my use of NFP!? (It works quite well for us, btw 😉 )

I thought you were being more generous than me, by ignoring the little dig. 🙂

I have 8 and know exactly when I ovulate. There is no such thing “as letting things happen” with me. I know the days my kids are conceived 🤷 Sometimes I wish I could surprise myself! 🙂 I don’t consider myself an NFP user though, I just know my cycle.

Bleh I can only imagine how you must feel. I would just ignore them and tell them to mind their own dang business if I were you. Course that is just me. You could also maybe ask them so hey if you want me to have more kids SO bad I am sure you will be pitching in to help pay/care for them right? I bet that will shut them up!
Excellent point! It is none of their business. Best for the OP and her DH to work it out. The military does not pay much…that is true and you are wise to look at the prospect of having more children realistically. Your family will survive whether you have 2 or 10 children…but you and your DH will work it out to what is best for your family.

Good luck to you.😃
