Can anyone recommend a good book that might help my daughter on her spiritual journey?

Thanks,
Jim

“Theology of the Body Explained” by Christopher West

“Real Love” by Mary Beth Bonnacci

These were both great books for me to read at age 21 and I wish I’d read them at 17. Would have saved me plenty of heartache!

Anything written by Jason Evert or his wife Christalina. My daughter loves both and has grown so much through reading their books and attending their talks.

Amy Welborn has a series of good books aimed at young people. Her books are on the beliefs of the Church.

I always enjoyed her column in Our Sunday Visitor, she has a nice style of writing.

Mary Beth Bonacci and Jason Evert are also excellent, but I don’t know if I’d give them as a birthday present… maybe separately instead.

The Privilege of Being a Woman by Alice von Hildebrand

Beautiful book about the glory of Catholic womanhood, by the wife of a famous Catholic philosopher.

I would recommend looking over any book that you get her to see whether you thnk that she would like it.

My favourite is **Pierced by a Sword ** by Bud MacFarlane jr, available free at www.catholicity.com

I wanted to meet the characters in the book (I wanted to be them), my heart burned within me and it helped my Faith.

It is an exciting and suspenseful book about good and evil and the Catholic Church.

George Weigel (sp) “Letters to a Young Catholic” and the CS Lewis “Mere Christianity” Journal…

I have a 16 year old daughter…and also most of the books previously listed!

Here are my recommendations:
“Did Adam & Eve Have Bellybuttons” and “Did Jesus Have a Last Name” both by Matthew Pinto. These are both in Q & A format and I’ve found that the teens in my youth group love them.

“I Kissed Dating Goodbye” and “Boy Meets Girl” by Joshua Harris (not a Catholic, but good material anyway)

“ABC’s of Choosing a Husband” by Steve Wood

“Pure Womanhood” by Crystallina Evert (I gave this book to my teenage nieces at Christmas and they can’t quit talking about it!)

And I’ll second the recommendations for Mary Beth Bonacci and Amy Welborn!
