Or as Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.”

We could simplify those three wishes to just be “I want the three theological virtues”, and then we’ve got 2 more to use!!

😃

Probably depends on the Genie, though. He may count that as three wishes.

I think what we need to do is trick him into granting us those virtues.

“Some Genie. I bet he can’t even grant me the theological virtues.”

If he gets us out of the cave…I mean…grants us those virtues, we know he has power. Plus we have ALL THREE wishes remaining!

BISHOP (8:21): “Suppose a genie appeared to you and said, ‘I’ll give you three wishes.’ You might think, ‘Oh! I want to be as rich as Bill Gates, as powerful as Donald Trump, and as famous as Beyoncé.’

But here’s the trouble…
In satire…sort of… here’s the (totally fake) LifeSiteNews article about this interview:

“Bishop Baron suggests Catholics ask magic Genie for theological virtues rather than God”

Bishop Robert Baron, host of the Catholicism DVD series and Word on Fire podcasts, suggested on his most recent podcast that Catholics should use magic to increase their faith. Bishop Baron suggested that Catholics should wish for the three theological virtues of faith, hope and love if they ever encounter a magic Genie.

Bishop Baron is widely respected in the Catholic media world, though his positions on major culture issues are often at odds with sound Church teaching…

Meanwhile, at Eye of the Tiber…

“Bishop Baron suggests Catholics wish for better homilies”

I hope everyone gets as many laughs reading this as I did typing it. Thank God for our wonderful Catholic media outlets!

Excellent article; I’m just waiting for the Genie to come visit me now…

I will ask for endurance to practice my
Lenten vows, patience for God to fulfill
my godly dream and the courage to
face opposition WHEN they come.
