As if they were seperate…Firstly, the fact that the Society is asking to be received in audience by the Holy Father does not mean that it is on the point of betraying. If there is no contact between Tradition and Rome, now will the truth of Tradition ever make itself heard in Rome? Secondly, there being a contact does not mean that an agreement is possible. Let all the Catholics who dream of fitting together Catholic Tradition and the present neo-modernist authorities of the Church come back down to earth. Catholic Authority and Catholic Truth will one day re-unite, but nothing for the moment indicates that that day is tomorrow – or the day after!
I pray that an agreement can be reached.
It could be a start! They’ll talk and be cordial, but I don’t think an agreement is likely at all.
A large percentage of the SSPX folks feel that the Latin mass is the only way to go. Even if Fellay came to an agreement , how many of those folks would follow him? They would all have to be convinced individually as well.
I don’t see it a return of the SSPX due to a single meeting, it would have to be a process.
Leeta,Hey, I’m not a SSPXer and I think the Classical Roman Rite Mass is the only way to go. The longer I attend the new Mass, the more convinced I am of the superiority of the Old Rite.
The mock quotes are quite rude, Bishop Fellay is a bishop. Have a little optimism will ya.I believe Pope Benedict and “Bishop” Fellay have met before and nothing has come of those meetings.

What’s with the inverted commas around the word bishop?I believe Pope Benedict and “Bishop” Fellay have met before and nothing has come of those meetings.

Illegally consecrated, illicitly consecrated, whose every sacramental action is a deeper spiral into disobedience. They are valid, but not licit, and they have no faculties, either to give to the priests under them or to use themselves. What’s with the inverted commas around the word bishop?
Bishop Fellay is a validly consecrated Bishop, and Rome recognises that fact.
Triumpha.
