Has anyone else read about Detroit Archbishop Vigneron’s warning about a meeting of the “American Catholic Council” there this coming weekend? If not, it can easily be googled.
It seems that there is the danger that this dissident group might attempt an illicit concelebration among other things.
I’m just putting this out there to solicit prayers for the situation, which doesn’t look good.
It is scheduled for June 11th and 12th (Pentecost weekend).
 
While your heart may be in the right place, by posting such here you are just as likely promoting the event as “asking for prayers”.

By googling the event people are just as likely to get articles promoting the event as not.

The nerve of them to claim the authority to discuss the “direction of our church” against the direct demands of the heirarchy. They have already borken away in their hearts.

I will pray for them.

Sad to see this unsolicited “direction of the church” advice from the laity, whether it’s the so-called “Voice of the Faithful” pushing error, or some traditionalist extremists, they all think the Church needs their guidance more than that of the Holy Spirit’s.
 
Having perused their website, the ACC seems to offer a rather nebulous collage of religious concepts. A semi-formalized group of ‘cafeteria’ Catholic precepts and definitely heretical.

This is different, though. The reason for the dismay is that they have totally ignored the Bishop of the diocese that they will be meeting in. They ignored his requests to check the content of the Mass to be celebrated, and it is absolutely necessary to have the permission of the Bishop for things like this.

You mention two extreme groups, but the group in question is definitely an extreme, in fact gravely so.

The Holy Spirit guides us in these matters through the Successors of the Apostles, and , unfortunately that is who they are brushing off

Very much so. I think the most important thing here (for those interested in finding out about the situation) is to read the actual text of the Archbishop’s letter.

The Archbishop has the authority over the meeting, he warned against them.

The American Catholic Council incorporates women priests, married priests and is in denial with the Church.
