Great article! There’s hope for the springtime.
However, just as I was finishing the article a television spot showed John Kerry coming out of San Felipe de Niri Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. He was all smiles as he was being publicly and enthusiasticly greeted by a priest, presumably the pastor. If he received the Eucharist at Mass I am doubly appalled.
How I hope our bishops speak more clearly than in that policy statement which was at odds which Cardinal Ratzinger’s letter. “In fact, there are obvious differences between the bishops’ statement, “Catholics in Political Life,” and Cardinal Ratzinger’s articulation of “the doctrine of the Church on this specific issue.” Most notably, what is optional in the former is mandated in the latter.”
If only the good bishops could see how the communion rail is being used and how the Church is being abused. Good catholics are denied communion if an invalid marriage mars their standing before Christ and His Church, yet this publically scandalous politician gets away with endorsing murder and supporting its legitimization.
