The nation’s Roman Catholic bishops have drafted new guidelines for ministry to gay people that affirm church teaching against same-sex relationships, marriages and adoptions by gay couples, yet encourage parishes to reach out to gay Catholics who feel alienated by their church.
The bishops’ document, the result of a four-year effort, gives specific instructions on some of the conundrums now faced in many parishes.

Pax vobiscum!

The pope already gave them a letter addressing this issue years ago. I wonder how many of them actually read it or used it.

Why are there so many support groups for divorced Catholics? We do not prohibit them from active roles in the Church. Maybe we should.

I’m glad the bishops don’t require therapy for a change in orientation. After all, those doctors who offer it don’t accept any insurance and charge exorbitant fees. Sounds like they are tyring to get rich on a possibility that doesn’t exist. Let’s just start treating homosexuals as people for a change.

Treat people as people? Now hold on a minute there mister. If we treat people as people how can we act superior to anyone? Not on my watch!

A divorced Cathlic who remarries without an anuulment is prohibited from an active role in the Church. The Church has always treated those who engage in homosexual behavior as people. Where did you ever get the idea they didnt?

Pax tecum!

You are quite wrong here. There certainly is a possibility that someone can change from being homosexual. In fact, I have a friend who did just that.

Some may be able to, some may not be able to. Each situation is unique. The Church does not require a change in orientation. Homosexuals are required to live a chaste life according to their state in life- if they are single, that means celibacy. Marriage is and will always be between one man and one woman, and those struggling who are married must live chastely in the context of marriage.
