Bisops and the pontiff

Is it true that all bishops must visit the pope every 5 years or so? That’s what I’ve read anyway.

Yes, it’s call an ad limina visit.
Usually a group of Bishops from a particular area all go together and meet with the Holy Father both has individuals and in a group.

My Bishop, along with all the other Ordinaries from New Yoks State, as well as some auxilary bishops all had their visit in November of 2011.

I don’t think there is a better way for the pope to remain informed on the status of the Church around the world than to have these visits by the Bishops. In turn, the pope sometimes has the chance to visit the faithful around the world…
