Black Lives Matter is such a poor advertisement for the Left that Im wondering if it’s being funded by Republicans

If I were running the Democrats campaign I would view with dismay what is happening. It makes the left look unreasonable and irresponsible.

In fact, it was very much this inability to sound reasonable which enabled Trump to get elected last time.

Similarly I have wondered if the unrest and protests are being whipped up on social media by “troll farms” in Russia or another foreign country, like they were doing in 2016.

Hmm, yes, we must consider the possibility that the Democratic Party needs neither Republican dirty tricksters nor Russian trolls to help them look politically extreme. They can do it all by themselves.

Just to clarify, I believe The Left IS actually (your words, Max) “unreasonable and irresponsible.” But you, personally, tend to be more rational than your comrades haha.

And i asked my husband to comment here:
If you look back in history on leftist takeovers/coups, you can see the patterns of unreasonable-ness over and over again. Even when you disregard the violence, no one forces the irrational conversations that go on (such as Daisy noted in the Democratic Convention). All of which corresponds to leftist playbooks written by people like Saul Alinsky.

OP didn’t start the discussion in the News forum. It began in Casual Discussion, which does not require a news link to begin the thread. They must have moved it here.
 
The crowds have been huge though in protests.

Ok, a few bad apples have set fires and the like, probably, a very small percentage.
 
I think the main problem for me is when people excuse the rioting and violence as understandable reactions to oppression.

Well, really? I am going to tear up my own neighborhood in reaction to what people in other neighborhoods do? Those rioters destroyed a building that was being built to be housing for poor people! Stores where poor people can walk to to get their food!

No, the peaceful protesters and their allies should immediately renounce those people as the violent destroyers that they are.
 
(@dochawk) This was fine in the Casual Discussion category. Idle speculation, pleasant banter, no news link or content. Not unlike discussing a favorite conspiracy theory (I mean that in charity, not malice).

I think the enemies of the US want unrest, confusion, lawlessness, and a weak leader. I think Trump is a weak president (for all his bully behavior), and Biden is no better. Why can’t the US find (or cultivate) good leaders?

And put up with living in a distorted magnifying fish bowl? And be criticized for not meeting today’s purity standards decades ago? Etc.

We get the leaders we deserve, altho in Trump, despite all his faults, I think we got someone better than we deserve.

I would not want Trump. Trump is very very good at strengthening our economy and I am very happy with his work towards ending outsourcing and insourcing.

And other nations don’t really want is doing that.

I disagree, it allows them to campaign on the emotional but nebulous topic of racism. They are also raising many millions to support campaigning using BLM.

They can’t campaign on Healthcare or the Economy since they don’t have any viable/respected plans. The War on Women seems to also be dead in the water.

Some other nations don’t want a healthy, prospering US, and therefore don’t want President Trump. Some Transnational corporations and organizations wouldn’t want him either. Some domestic corporations would not want him, as they want the lowest cost of labor.

For those who’ve had their businesses and livelihoods destroyed, even the smallest percentage is too large. It really only takes one or two bad apples to wipe out a lifetime of hard work and saving. The last I was aware, arson is still a crime. Why aren’t those folks being held accountable?
 
That’s actually a good conspiracy theory. I also found out a bunch more about BLM, and I am legitimately wondering if it’s not actually a parody of actual civil rights movements (I am of the opinion BLM are bullies).
