Sigh…
I’ve seen rich white guys and rich black guys, along with poor white guys and poor black guys. A significant difference between the rich guys and the poor guys is whether they engage in long-term thought and planning.
While there may be differences between what the poor white guys and poor black guys squander money on, there is still a significant gap in the length of planning between the rich and the poor. I see white rig workers out here who make ~$100,000.00/year with minimal opportunity costs from school who basically wind up bankrupt if the drilling slows down because they bought all sorts of “toys” like ATV’s, jacked up diesel trucks, etc. I see black guys making ~$100,000.00/year with minimal opportunity costs lacking a pot to p*** in because they bought all sorts of other “toys” like gold-plated DE .50 AE’s, grilles, and other assorted bling. Different spending habits, same problem.
Perhaps society wold be better off if schools taught the concepts of long-term thinking and delayed gratification.
