(I think this is most appropriate to Traditional Catholicism, could a moderator please move if I’m incorrect)
With the Feast Day of St. Louis of France on August 25th, I’m reminded of his mother Blanche of Castille and her famous quote:
“I love you, my dear son, as much as a mother can love her child; but I would rather see you dead at my feet than that you should ever commit a mortal sin.”
Imagine loving your son so much that you’d wish him dead before he could commit a mortal sin…she valued his immortal soul so much that she didn’t want any possibility that he might not be with God in Heaven.
What a mother! I just wanted to point out her love for him so much, that it resonates some eight centuries later!
I wonder if she was ever investigated for possible beatification/canonization?
