Glad this thread is here.

My story with Mother Mary.

Grew up Catholic and always loved the Holy Eucharist. But I was always aware that Mary was there and I was not getting to know her. Then I saw a prayer card in a garage floor. It was the Mother of Sorrows. She had tears rolling down her cheeks and her heart pierced with daggers bleeding. Embraced in her arms is the crown of thorns and in her hand the three nails.

It broke my heart. What my mind couldn’t wrap around my heart understood. Since then I’ve fallen for her. If we only come to love Christ by a flash of how she loved him in a lifetime, I believe we’d be holy.

Semper Deo gratias et Mariae! 🙂

I like the many Old Testament allusions in Marian hymnody. For example, this from the Coptic tradition:

You are the Tabernacle, and the Ark, which Moses has made, with great honor.

Beyond all the thoughts, of the heavens, is this mysterious matter, of the Mercy Seat.

All the high names, of the incorporeal, did not reach the height, of your blessedness.

You resemble the rod, of Aaron, which blossomed and budded, and produced its fruit.
