Blessed Pascha to those on the Old (correct, lol) calendar!

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Christ our True God is risen from the dead!

Accept the unfathomable gift of His redemption,

Deacon Christopher

Αλληλούια! Χριστός Ανέστη! Ένα ευτυχές και ευλογημένο Πάσχα!

Аллилуиа! Христос воскрес! Счастливой и благословенной Пасхи!

smart alek 🙂

I’m going to take a wild guess that that translates to “He is Rise”, as I don’t see a Christos in there . . .

and as a side note, this is the rare year when both the old and new calendar defy the Nicean prescription and get the date wrong (it should have been 4 weeks before the western date).

Alas, some day we can hope to follow the rather easy astronomical prescription.

Alethos anesti is the response to Christos anesti. 😀

Could you please post the Paschal Troparion in Greek? On Bright Saturday (Gregorian), I attended the funeral of a deacon at his home parish. As part of Panakhyda during Bright Week, the Paschal Troparion was sung in Greek! (They also sang it in Slavonic.) It threw me for a loop because that was the first time I ever heard it sung in Greek.

While it’s been around for a few days, this time when I saw the title, my mind popped to:
Old McDonald had a Pascha, E-I, E-I,O.
With a Pascha here, and a Pascha there,
Here a Pascha,. there a Pascha, everywhere a Pas-cha
😱🤣

Hey, how many years do we get three distinct Pascha???

(for non-Americans, Old MacDonald is a nursery rhyme/song which cycles through various farm animals and their sounds)

Χριστὸς ἀνέστη ἐκ νεκρῶν, θανάτῳ θάνατον πατήσας καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι ζωὴν χαρισάμενος.
