When can Blessed Pope John Paul II be chosen as a patron st?
 
After canonisation I guess.

Not sure which country other than Poland that would choose him as their patron saint, most have one already.
 
If you mean as your personal patron for confirmation, then you can already choose him. I’m doing that for my confirmation next month! 😃
