CCC (2644) lists the forms of prayer as blessing, petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and praise.
Elsewhere blessing is associated with adoration. Can anyone tell me the difference between blessing, adoration, and praise? The definitions in the CCC as well as the Catholic dictionary and encyclopedia, all sound very similar. How do we distinguish (in particular for students/children)?

CCC 2626-2628 covers both together, insinuating that adoration is a form of blessing?

The forms of prayer are treated in turn, blessing (2626-2627) and adoration (2628) are under one heading.

My understanding is that blessing, as a type of prayer, is an exchange, going back and forth between God and man (like a conversation). Adoration, rather than a form of blessing, refers to the attitude, or inward stance we take as we come before God (in relationship).

Praise (2639) is the perfect unity of all types of prayer, the abandonment of all reservation and self consciousness, which “embraces the other forms of prayer and carries them toward him who is its source and goal.

2644-2649 summarize the entire section. Seemingly, adoration is missing from the listing? however it is shown (2628) to be the overall attitude that makes authentic prayer possible, rather than being itself a type of prayer.
