Our old priest just left, our new priest just came. The old one would give a blessing to whoever had their arms crossed over their chest because they could not receive Holy Communion. When I asked the new priest about blessings, he told me that priests are actually forbidden to give anything but communion in a communion line. That doesn’t mean that he would deny the person since they do not know but eventually he would make it known. (I asked because the week before a visiting priest from Mexico, just kept trying to give the young man the host until finally he just walked away)
Does anyone know if this is true; that they are actually forbidden? There are alot of young children, a few non-Catholics considering the Church that have been getting blessed.
I know everyone gets a final blessing at the end of Mass and if they desired could ask the priest before or after mass.
Just curious.
God Bless,
