This morning at the start of mass the priest asked all those who were sick to come up for a special blessing of the sick. There were about 70 people at the mass because it was first Saturday. Only about half were elderly. I expected only the elderly or those who needed assistance to go forward for the annointing of the forehead and palms. There were only four of us who did NOT go forward for the annointing. After watching all the people go forward I thought maybe I interpreted the priest incorrectly when he ask all the “sick” to come forward. Was this just a blessing for everybody…like the St Blaize blessing of the throat? Did I miss out on a special blessing by not going forward?

Technically we are all “sick” to some degree. If you were aware of any particular sickness at the time, you might have been missing something, but since he did call the “sick” without further explanation it is OK that you interpreted it as you did.

IMO, FWIW.
