Hello,
I recently received a “Combat Rosary” as a gift. I would like to get it blessed by a priest, however only blessing/exorcism (?) of the St. Benedicts medal was included in the kit and the blessing of Rosary and Miravuloud Medal was only in english. Do you have Latin version I could hand over to my priest? Thanks a lot!

The language the blessing is done in does not matter. To think it does is bordering in superstition.

You might want to be sure the priest you are asking to bless it in Latin, understands and can pray in Latin.
If he can, which would be great, then he would probably have that blessing himself already.
We have a priest in our diocese that blesses and does other prayers in Latin but I’m pretty sure all priests could not if they dont know Latin.

My priest told me Latin is his “second” mother tongue.

It might not matter for you, but its official language of the church which was used by pretty much all the Saints. And I wish to keep it alive.

And that is fine. If your priest says it’s his 2nd mother tongue, he does not need the prayers printed in Latin, as I am sure he has them.

And yes, Latin is the language of the Roman church but it does not have special powers in and if itself. It is the words of the blessing that matter, whether in Latin, Engish or Swahili.

No he doesn’t have them. He is from a novus ordo parish and this is not something he do on a regular basis.
And i disagree that Latin is on the same level as Swahili or english. Exorcist would tell you there is a sifference. It doesn’t mean that local language blessings are invalid, though. I think we can close this dialogue since its pointless.

Hopefully someone will have those blessing prayers.

Hopefully someone will have the blessings here but if not you might try checking on Fisheaters forum.

Your priest should have a book of blessings and if he is as attached to Latin as you say he is, he will likely have the Latin translation.

My priest blesses most of my items in Latin, but please remember that a vernacular blessing is no less effective. Better to have them blessed in the vernacular than to not have them blessed at all.

Tell father to download the Brevmeum App. It will give him access to the Latin at very little cost.
