Holy Church calls us to be joyful today! The sufferings of this life and the forces of darkness can never destroy our inner joy, being one with Christ! Enjoy this wonderful feast with your family. Remember to watch the Mass today. Let us give God our very best from now on!

Notes from The Daily Missal (trad):

“Forty days after the Resurrection, our Lord Jesus Christ, attended by angels, ascended into Heaven, in the sight of His most holy Mother, His apostles, and disciples, to the great wonder of them all. St. Paul declares that God “hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus….there where the Head has gone, the Body is called to follow!”

From the trad Mass:

“Ye men of Galilee, why wonder you, looking up to heaven? Alleluia. He shall so come as you have seen Him going up into heaven, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. O clap your hands, all ye nations; shout unto God, with the voice of exultation."

Please share how you and your family are celebrating Ascension Thursday today. Another good idea is to get to church for adoration, hopefully your church is open! You may also consider requesting Holy Communion from a priest. The worst thing that can happen is he will say no. Seek and you shall find! “Whatsoever you ask in My Name, shall be done.”

This reminds me.

The novena to the Holy Spirit starts tomorrow and ends the day before Pentecost.

I’ve been praying this novena annually for 14 years.

This isn’t strictly related but Ascension Thursday reminds me, it’s Pentecost next Sunday and that’ll be the first time I will have gone to Mass since before Lent. (I’d been skipping church for a few weeks due to a crisis of faith I had and by the time I sorted myself out corona happened). I’m so excited! Although it’ll be a little sad seeing the church so empty what with gatherings restricted to 10 people.
