There’s no way in settings to block certain keywords (such as “Trump”, “Biden”, “Election”, etc), is there? I deactivated all my social media to get away from the constant political drivel and I joined this group to be able to ask questions to other Catholics about doctrine, faith, Catholic living, etc. I’m super over politics and I’d love to be able to not see those posts, if for no other reason than my blood pressure. Seriously, though, I find that politics brings out the worst, most aggressive, most quarrelsome, argumentative parts of my personality and I hate that.

I have certain sections of CAF muted, so I don’t see them.

If you click on your avatar at the top right of the screen, and then the person figure, a ‘preferences’ option will come up. Click on that, and then you can select ‘categories’, where there’s an option to mute categories. I’ve muted World News to avoid seeing anything from there. You might also want to consider muting social justice, because some threads seem to pop up there too.

Thanks! That’s a pity, because a lot of the social justice topics are interesting. I’m still trying to get to the bottom of what our Social Doctrine is besides being against abortion and same-sex marriage. 😐

I completely understand that! What you can do if you want to is (and I appreciate this is more work), but if a topic on politics comes up in social justice, you can quickly scroll to the end of the thread and change the notification to ‘mute’ so you don’t see it anymore. Or you can mute social justice so things don’t appear on the main pages, but then access it through categories and browse it from there. If that makes sense 😂

I muted World News and Catholic News years ago. Then I had to mute Traditional Catholicism, with slight regret, and finally, with greater regret, Social Justice. (What does that leave!?) Now I find CAF quite tolerable.

Quite an interesting thread. Personally, I never mute any topic or poster, precisely because I like to see opinions which are different from mine. How could I learn anything new, if I would not see how other people think?

But that is just me. Don’t take it as a criticism.

Only a few days to go now. The media might find something else to focus on shortly.

Muting the World News subforum is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
