Wow, she is an inspiration. I love what she said about “proving them wrong.”

She is great. And I think what she is saying to do is - not to be negative but … - I think it is a lot harder than most people realize. The image of straddling a fence that is a little too high is actually a really good one. When she describes being close friends with gay people, even befriending people who are her ideological adversaries on the gay marriage issue, that is actually extremely difficult in my experience, because gays, and Christians as well, are very invested in their beliefs about homosexuality. Gays more personally, Christians more in terms of their commitment to truth and to Christ’s teaching. So, hats off to Katy Faust! I’m not saying there’s not things we can all learn from her, and should. But it’s not so easy to do and what she is accomplishing is what we should all emulate, but we need to know it isn’t easy. But as she also says, we really are as Christians obliged to try.

You’re absolutely right, it’s not easy to do. But I love the observation, “Christianity is for adults!” In that sense, she’s darn right!
